A dose of Chanakyaniti

The other evening a friend of mine and I, dont know how, got into a conversation on Chanakya. Believe me we are not so boring people nor were we out of topics of discussion but yes we ended up Discussing Chanakya.Btw an fyi here, those who dont know Chanakya was an advisor to the first Maurya Emperor Chandragupta.

So my friend here was going on and on about how he implemented all his policies brought about economic reforms...bla bla bla...He was from Takshashila university btw...planning to make on blog on that as well :).
So what captured my attention during our discussion and which eventually lead to the creation of this blog was the following line from my friend:

all he said was "dude, you know every day Chanakya added a drop of poision in Chadragupta Maurya's food"

And after listening to it i was like Chanakya being so intelligent and a good fellow how could he resort to such a treachary.

Thereby seeing the confused look on my face my friend continued with a smile saying that it was with good intention.

He Said " He added small amounts of poison in Chandragupta's food so that he would get used to it and his aim was to prevent the Emperor from being poisoned by enemies."

And I was like wow..and i decided to write about this in my blog.

I googled it further just to find out that these action of Chanakya eventually lead further later to his own demise which happened by series of interelated events.

I will cover in detail more about it and keep the blog updated. Meanwhile i am thinking about a suitable title to this post. Thanks for Reading...Stay in Touch.

Thou shalt not pass...

Thou shall not pass...
"You cannot pass! I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the Flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, Flame of Udun! Go back to the shadow. You shall not pass!"

Holy Cannoli!!...after this scene LOTR series topped my list of favourite movies which was earlier dominated by Matrix (1999). Just the scene where Gandalf the Grey (a wizard by profession) trying to stop a monster (Flame of Udun...i guess the name) was enough to satisfy my inner urges, something i am constantly searching for...

The will power of a person by which he overcomes great obstacles, seemingly impossible, and thereby brings change.

"Welcome to the real world" ~ Morpheus

Yes i know its just a movie and they (film-makers) can portray anything they desire.
In our (real) world dominated by Newton's laws such thing may not be possible.
People will argue that an ordinary person cannot defeat today's monsters all by himself, he is powerless and not a wizard for gods sake.

"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself."  ~ Morpheus

Above dialogue is true for us as well, mere words wont be able to convince us what potential each person carries..
Long before watching LOTR...i had came across a video know as the Tank Man

The Tank Man stops the advance of a column of tanks on June 5, 1989, in Beijing

Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who stood in front of a column of Chinese tank the morning after the Chinese military forcibly removed protestors from in and around Beijing's Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989.

It is after watching this video i came to realise the power of an ordinary human being.

A simple looking fellow with shopping bags in hand standing up to block a column of chinese tanks. The tank steers right he steps to the right, it tries to move to the left he blocks again by stepping to the left.

You dont get to see this everyday one lone ordinary man standing up to machinery, to force, to a system ( word frequently used in hindi movies :P).

Dont know what happened to the Tank Man after that, reports are that he was executed some say he is still alive and lives in isolation in mainland China. For more information please refer to below link:

I am glad to dedicate my first Blog to the Tank Man and thereby to each and everyone's hidden potential.
Looking forward to write on my next fav movie ...and would like to end by the quote
"The Kingdom of God is within you"...
